Wildflower Nursery Gloucestershire | Herefordshire

Ecohab Wildflowers is run by Liz Brookes, producing native wildflower plugs and wildflower seeds for habitat restoration. The nursery specialises in conservation-worthy and rare plants. Seed is hand collected sustainably by botanists to capture the genetic diversity of local populations.

Our wildflowers are used in a wide variety of applications including meadow creation, woodlands, wetlands, green roofs and brownfield site projects.

We offer site visits and specialist advice for all wildflower habitat design. We are passionate about working with nature and using wildflowers to rebuild ecosystems from the ground up.

Liz has fifteen years of botanical and wildflower experience. She has full membership to the Chartered Institute Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), and Field Identification Skills Certificate (FISC) Level 4.

Our propagation material is collected following the RBG Kew and Millennium Seed Bank MSB seed collecting protocols. Seed and propagation material is strictly British provenance with no agricultural varieties. Local provenance areas and habitat information is provided for all our wildflower plugs and seed. These areas include Gloucestershire (Forest of Dean, Cotswolds and Severn Vale), Herefordshire, Monmouthshire and Oxfordshire.

The nursery is Defra registered and committed to reducing our environmental footprint. We use peat-free organic (Soil Association approved) compost. Long-life trays are employed to avoid the use of single-use plastics. No artificial fertiliser, pesticides or herbicides are used in the production of our wildflowers or seed. Why choose wildflower plugs?

Wildflower plugs are cost effective, easy to plant and are more reliable for introducing difficult to germinate or rare species.  They will enhance diversity of existing grasslands and are quicker to establish than seed.  A combination of plug plants and seeding can improve success by providing cover for delicate seedlings.
